DENTISTRY
This practice strongly believes in dental hygiene. Bad teeth, gingivitis, periodontitis are detrimental for the general wellbeing of any animals (though as owner you are often completely unaware that there are any problems in the animals mouth!). Bacteria from the mouth will get into the circulation and can cause extra strain on the liver and kidneys, can cause heart disease and general sepsis. They also cause very bad breath. We advocate daily brushing from an early age, (when animals will still accept the concept!) with special toothpaste and brush. We offer dental procedures such as scaling and polishing and extractions. There is also an antibiotic gel available that can be placed under receding gums and that will slowly release antibiotics for weeks. This promotes healthy gums, that than will reattach to clean teeth, saving some teeth that otherwise would need extracting. All these procedures require a full anaesthetic. Your animal will be admitted in the morning and will be able to go home in the afternoon or early evening. We participate every year in the NATIONAL PET SMILE MONTH with free dental checks and advice and treats.
